The <g id=\"gid_0\">NIS2 Directive<\/g> is fundamentally changing the picture. From October 17, 2024, the new EU regulation will also apply in Germany &#8211; and it will affect far more companies than many previously assumed.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The special feature: Responsibility no longer lies solely with experts in the background. <strong>Managing directors and board members are directly responsible<\/strong>. Those who neglect security measures not only risk attacks, but also fines of up to 10 million euros. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-wer-ist-betroffen\">Who is affected?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The directive is aimed at companies in <strong>critical sectors<\/strong> &#8211; from energy, health and finance to transport, postal services, waste management and digital services. As a rule, companies with more than 250 employees or a turnover of more than 50 million euros are affected. However, smaller companies can also be included if they are part of a sensitive supply chain.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other words, many German companies will be subject to completely new security requirements from fall 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\">\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-was-sich-verandert\">What is changing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>NIS2 is not a &#8220;nice-to-have&#8221;, but a mandatory program. In future, companies will have to report security incidents within 24 hours, closely examine their supply chains and <strong>integrate cyber security into their processes from the outset<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Above all, however, the <strong>management itself is responsible<\/strong>.
